Allegheny County Council represents the legislative branch of county government. The Council consists of fifteen total members, thirteen of which are elected by districts. The remaining two are elected county-wide (at-large).
Each member is elected to a term of four years in office. However, the number of terms that a Council member can serve is UNLIMITED.
The County Chief Executive, on the other hand, is limited to a maximum of three consecutive four-year terms.
If elected, Chris will work for consistency in term limits across county government. If the highest-ranking elected county official, the Chief Executive, is limited to three consecutive terms then that limitation should also apply to Council members.
Chris will work with Members of Council, the Chief Executive and the Law Department to amend the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter to establish term limits (a maximum of three four-year terms) for Members of Council.
